Pronouns Are Gross: When Identity Becomes a Mandate

It’s wild, isn’t it? Five years ago, the idea of labeling someone as “they” or “them” would have been an insult. It was a way to diminish someone, to strip away their individuality. Fast forward to today, and we’re living in a world where it’s suddenly “progressive” to plaster your pronouns in your email signature or LinkedIn profile. He/him, she/her, they/them… or even the occasional "it." What happened?

Somewhere along the way, the Joe Biden woke society turned pronouns into a badge of honor—or maybe a shield. The sheep in the woke media latched onto it, and now we’re supposed to believe it’s normal. Not just normal… essential. If you don’t participate in the pronoun parade, you’re automatically labeled a homophobe or closed-minded.

But here’s the thing: most people don’t care what you want to be called. If you want to identify as "they" or "them," fine. Go for it. Live your life. But the problem is when it becomes a mandate. When the rest of us are pressured to buy into it as if it’s the new standard of humanity. Suddenly, it’s not about individuality or expression—it’s about conformity.

Let’s not pretend this is just about pronouns. It’s part of something bigger, something that feels more like a cultural control mechanism than genuine progress. It’s one of those things that won’t reveal its true consequences for years to come. By then, we might be looking back and wondering how we let a small yet loud segment of society dictate the narrative for everyone.

That’s why we created the Pronouns Are Gross t-shirt. It’s not about hate or judgment—it’s about standing against the absurdity of being forced into someone else’s identity politics. It’s a statement that says, “I’ll respect you, but I’m not obligated to join your club.

Because in the end, identity is personal. And making it public shouldn’t come with an asterisk that says, “Or else.

Wear the shirt. Make the statement. Live your truth—without shoving it down someone else’s throat.
